WELCOME TO INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL

It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you all at Bukovel and at International Summer School "NANOTECHNOLOGY: from fundamental research to innovations".

The beginning of the 21st century literally became the "finest hour" of the nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Nowadays, nanotechnology is used in computer technology and electronics, aerospace and chemical industry, medicine and pharmacology, in construction industry, in manufacturing of new unprecedented materials.

First International Summer School "Nanotechnologies and nanomaterials: from fundamental research to innovations" to be held in Ukraine in the picturesque Carpathians, is aimed to familiarize young scientists with actual research and problems in this area and promote further implementation of nanotechnology in innovative development to meet public needs.

Current intense competition in scientific research and the world economy can be characterized by quoting the Queen from the book of famous English writer Lewis Carroll about the adventures of Alice: 'It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!'

So I wish the young participants of the School at Carpathian resort successfully to master lectures of leading scientists from different countries. I wish you keep the international pace of scientific research and in the future, successfully promote your innovative technologies.
